TapInfo/How it works

Tap. Resolve. Connect. Remember.

Four things happen in about a second. Here’s each one, and what it means for the person holding the phone.

The path of a tap

From card to relationship.

  1. Tap

The phone’s NFC reader powers the chip in the card and reads one short link: tapinfo.io/c/ plus a random ID. That’s all the chip holds.

  2. Resolve

TapInfo checks the card’s state. Active cards are matched to the identity they belong to. Paused, revoked or unknown cards show a neutral notice and nothing else.

  3. Connect

The profile opens in the phone’s browser, on tapinfo.io, with a verified badge. They can save your contact or send you theirs.

  4. Remember

The tap is recorded with when and how it happened. If they share their details, it becomes a relationship you can add a note to.

Phones

Which phones work, and where to tap.

The other person doesn’t need an app.

Hold the card flat against the phone for a moment. The chip reads from a few centimetres away, through most cases. On metal cards, tap with the back (the side with the inlay). Confirm model list

The chip

What’s on it, and what isn’t.

Chip contentshttps://tapinfo.io/c/7q4m-r29x…No name. No phone number. No email.

Because the card only holds a pointer, everything about you lives in your TapID, where you can change it. That’s also why a lost card can be switched off without getting it back. The full chip specification is in the Trust Centre.

Relationships

A tap is a moment. A relationship has context.

A tap on its own is an interaction. It becomes a relationship when there’s something to remember.

Who

The person, and their current profile, not the one printed months ago.

When and how

Date, time, and which card, tag or QR it came through.

Where

The event or place, when it’s known or you add it.

Why

Your note: what you talked about and what happens next.

One identity

Every surface opens the same you.

Card, Tap Tag, QR, Wallet pass or a plain link: each is a credential that opens your TapID, TID·7Q4M‑R29X. Lose one, add one, replace one; the identity stays put.
